In the pursuit of knowledge, collaboration, and intellectual growth, the Center for Human-Computer Interaction (CHCI) is currently hosting a Research Colloquium. Led by Dr. Jaymer M. Jayoma, the Director of CHCI, this event has gathered faculty researchers from the College of Computing and Information Sciences along with distinguished speakers.
The gathering aims to enhance researchers’ skills in research writing and project proposal drafting, providing insights into Intellectual Property and Patents. The primary objectives include securing funding for research endeavors and safeguarding the intellectual property of the researchers.
A highlight of the colloquium was a presentation by Mr. Roland P. Abao, who shared groundbreaking research insights. Mr. Abao expounded on his dissertation, offering valuable perspectives on emerging technology trends. Another noteworthy aspect of the colloquium was a discussion on Intellectual Property and Patents led by Professor Kenneth L. Ciudad, the Director of the Technology Transfer and Licensing Office TTLO. Prof. Ciudad emphasized the critical role of patent searches, highlighting key factors such as novelty, inventiveness, and industrial applicability as essential steps in the process. Additionally, Dr. Junrie B. Matias, the Director of the Research and Development Publication Office (RDPO), provided an insightful discussion on the current status of the university’s research output and outlined targeted research goals for the upcoming years, contributing to the overall richness of the discussion.
