August 16, 2023 – At the bustling Panagtapok sa Hinang 2023 event, the CSU – Department of Mining Engineering stepped into the spotlight, unveiling a glimpse into the future of learning. Amidst the festivities, students and enthusiasts were treated to an extraordinary opportunity โ a hands-on exploration of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies, propelling mining education into the digital era.
The centerpiece of the exhibition was an immersive AR/VR tour that transported participants right into the heart of a mine. Through specialized headgear, students could venture through different mine stages like prospecting, exploration, development, production, and rehabilitation, all within the confines of the ๐๐๐ booth.
But that’s not all โ students also got to play with cool AR tools. They could see rock formations and ore deposits on real models, making learning about mining engineering and geology a fun, interactive adventure.
And there’s more! The virtual e-learning part of the event was like a treasure trove of knowledge. Students dived into educational modules and played around with simulations, which turned tough mining ideas into easy-to-grasp concepts. This new way of learning wasn’t like the usual classroom stuff โ it let students learn at their own speed and in their own style.
With the mining industry rapidly evolving and embracing environmental consciousness, education must keep stride. The integration of AR and VR into mining education is a game-changer and the future of mining education is going to be exciting, interesting, and totally in sync with today’s digital wonders. This journey has just kicked off, and it’s going to be incredible!
